PA'S PARTNERSHIP WITH LAND ROVER BAR
PA is helping Land Rover BAR in Bermuda to #BringTheCupHome
Sir Ben Ainslie and new entrants team Land Rover BAR delivered an incredible performance in Fukuoka, Japan, to win the final round of the Louis Vuitton America's Cup World Series (ACWS). With this historic win they became 2015-2016 ACWS Champions. The World Series win means that the team will now take two vital bonus points into the next round of the competition, the America's Cup Qualifiers, starting 26 May 2017 in Bermuda.
Ben Ainslie, Skipper and Team Principal, says: "It was an amazing day for the team because our core goal was to win the overall series, that is what we came here to do. To achieve that and come out on top in the final event to get four regatta wins in the overall series, that is a huge achievement from a completely new team."
PA has joined with Olympic gold medallist Sir Ben Ainslie and new entrants team Land Rover BAR, in their challenge to win the America's Cup in 2017.
Land Rover BAR has core technical, design and engineering knowledge – but the broad sweep of modern scientific and technological advancement means there will always be opportunities from other industries. Together, PA and Land Rover BAR have launched the Technical Innovation Group (TIG) to bring together the best of British industry to contribute to this unique technical and sporting challenge.
The task of the TIG is to find advanced technologies and develop them to provide a race winning edge to the team. The TIG steering group, chaired by PA, initiated and now guides the existing design team with an external, world-class, multidisciplinary research and development group.
It allows the team to rapidly develop, prove and apply new technologies. The TIG provides technological insight and manages innovative projects in areas such as human factors, boat dynamics, sensors and controls, and data and analytics.
“We don't underestimate the challenge ahead. Over the course of 34 contests, Britain has never won the America's Cup – so we are going to make a lot of history when we bring the trophy home. But we realise that we need all the help that we can get. That's why we are delighted to have PA Consulting Group on board.”
Sir Ben Ainslie, Land Rover BAR's Team Principal and Skipper
“The UK is a world leader in engineering and technological innovation. As an innovation, consulting and technology company itself, PA is proud to be contributing its insight and expertise to the challenge, working closely with the Land Rover BAR team and other contributing companies.”

The America's Cup is an extreme sailing event, featuring high speed, action packed, inshore racing with the best sailors in the world competing on hydrofoiling, wing-sailed 45ft catamarans, “flying” at up to 80km/hour.
The World Series is the first stage of competition in the America’s Cup and began in the summer of 2015, culminating in the America’s Cup (Finals) in 2017 in Bermuda. Featuring all of the America’s Cup teams racing in foiling, one-design AC45F catamarans, the ACWS circuit is an early opportunity to put points on the board that carry forward into the next stage of the competition.
The 2016 Louis Vuitton America’s Cup World Series opened in Oman at the end of February, and saw Land Rover BAR become the first team to score a second ACWS win, following success in Portsmouth in 2015.
