PA’s Tim Daly, healthcare expert, is quoted in the Financial Times special report on global health policy. The article looks at governments investing in preventing illness through preventive programmes and the challenges they face around implementing these measures.
Commenting on disease prevention and wellness programmes, Tim explains: “You’re preventing now so when people get older they’re not such a burden on the health system – and that doesn’t fit with any election cycle.”
Tim argues that it is difficult for governments to score political points for wellness programmes: “The way the electorate judge health policies tends to be on the perception of the health services they receive rather than how healthy they are.”
