Delivering a successful IT strategy for COWI in just eight weeks

Having made several acquisitions, the board at COWI, an engineering, environmental science and economics consultancy, wanted to establish a shared IT strategy across its organisation. COWI’s CIO asked PA to help develop a group IT strategy, covering IT systems, organisation, governance and sourcing, in time for the board meeting the following quarter.

To meet the deadline, we used our accelerated, hypothesis-driven approach built around four workshops. These allowed us to: define COWI’s current business drivers; establish principles and target models for the new IT set-up; identify the benefits of aligning IT to these models; and define the projects needed to achieve the new set-up. We then wrote the IT strategy report and set out a roadmap to move COWI forward, completing all the work in half the usual time.
