We helped Oberthur Technologies Nordikum implement a CPS (common production system) and migrate all customers to a new chip in less than two years. The timing was important as the CPS represents a strategic competence and platform which makes it possible for Oberthur to work effectively with the latest chip technology.
Implementation of a common production platform
Oberthur Technologies is the world's second largest provider of security and identification based on smart card technology. In order to realise synergies it was crucial to ensure a rapid implementation of the strong common Oberthur production system CPS in Nordikum and to migrate all customers to a Oberthur manufactured chip. The project was a huge challenge as it involved four VISA/Mastercard certified sites and projects together with several hundred bank customers. PA worked in partnership with Oberthur to shape, manage and deliver the project in less than two years. The work involved people change to new ways of working in an environment of a newly merged company. In addition to this the technical element was significant as chip personalisation is complex and highly secured.
The project was delivered on time and in addition to the tangible benefit of the migration it has played a major role in the integration process turning Xponcard (the company acquired by Oberthur) into Oberthur.
