Associated Press – Transforming finance

The Associated Press, a global communications organisation, operates in one of the world’s fastest moving and most challenging media environments. It has had to react to new technology and market upheavals for a number of years. The Corporate Finance group has been striving to contribute more strategic value to the business through a better skill base, new systems, tighter controls and more relevant reporting. New systems have been implemented for international accounting and domestic expense reporting and a broad strategic roadmap for a new ERP had been defined. As a next step, Ken Dale, the CFO engaged PA Consulting Group to help review processes, recommend improvements and develop a detailed project plan to institute changes in processes and systems that would transform the finance function.
