The survey results show that major Swedish companies have achieved a high degree of environmental maturity; companies are actively investing in and pursuing change to take advantage of the opportunities identified. A large portion of these activities are aimed at transforming supply chains:
-
Actual and planned investment for implementing green supply chains is very little
-
Companies expect to continue focusing mainly on transportation and working with the same types of partners in their green initiatives.
However, on studying data covering the last two years, a different picture emerges. It is clear that there has not been, nor will there be, radical changes in direction among Swedish companies when it comes to their ‘green’ initiatives:
When asked about the obstacles to implementing a more radical strategy, 77% of companies point to a lack of competence and capability, and 73% worry about the complexity in executing a green supply chain.
So how does a company start to achieve the full potential of green opportunities? This publication concludes with PA suggesting a holistic assessment to understand how far the company has come regarding the 3I’s.
