Electro Optics names PA innovation expert Daniel Black in its Photonics100 list of most innovative people

Electro Optics has named PA innovation expert Daniel Black in its Photonics100 list of most innovative people. The Photonics100 celebrates the people who are driving the photonics industry forward, and Daniel was recognised after receiving a Guinness World Record for creating the ‘Most Powerful Handheld Laser (prototype)’ in 2023. This small but powerful laser can cut through plastic, fabrics, and wood.
Daniel commented, “The goal is always to find new ‘outside the box’ ways to solve difficult real-world problems and unlock new and exciting ways for PA’s clients to overcome challenges and to create a safer, more sustainable world.”
He discussed the laser-related projects he is working on currently with Electro Optics, from wireless energy transfer to novel cleaning methods, and the viability of using lasers to replace industrial processes, reduce resources, and mitigate harmful waste products and emissions.
Speaking about the industry more widely, Daniel said, “Quantum computing and quantum optics are key components in driving general artificial intelligence (AI), which in turn will drive further photonics development.”
