PA Consulting appoints Clean Energy Expert Aris Karcanias as Global Head of Energy and Utilities

PA Consulting (PA), the consultancy that’s bringing ingenuity to life, today announces the appointment of clean energy expert, Aris Karcanias, as its Global Head of Energy and Utilities.

Previously a Senior Managing Director and Co-lead of the Global Clean Energy Practice at FTI Consulting, as well as a founding member of the data science business, Aris has extensive experience working with some of the world’s leading energy companies, including Vestas, ABB and Equinor. His work has involved developing transition strategies for his clients to support portfolio decarbonisation and to enable them to capture the growing opportunities in the clean energy market. 

At a time when climate change and sustainability are at the very top of the regulatory, investor and corporate agenda, PA’s energy and utilities experts work with businesses to anticipate the future, champion innovation and lead the energy transition to unlock new potential in the energy and utilities markets.

Notable PA client work includes leading the transformation to green energy with Ørsted, Denmark’s largest energy producer,  boosting California's use of renewable energy by developing the world's biggest battery with US power company Vistra Energy, and developing an innovative solution to provide clean drinking water in a sustainable way to rural and remote communities for Water Source in Australia.  PA’s experts provide critical support and advice amid global uncertainty and change, seek to preserve valuable resources, and enhance environmental outcomes for societies around the world.

Throughout his 18 years’ experience in the energy sector, Aris has worked alongside leadership and strategy teams at some of the most successful clean technology firms as well as the oil and gas (O&G) super majors, to enable transformative market entry and establish dynamic, innovative business models. Aris has been involved in international clean energy transactions totalling 15GW, including on/offshore wind, photovoltaic solar (PV) and concentrated solar power (CSP), energy storage, and electronic vehicle (EV) charging.

Global Management Consulting Magazine named Aris ‘Most Influential Consultant’ in 2018 for his extensive work on corporate PPAs, and since 2017, he has been recognized by Who’s Who Legal as a leading global energy expert. Aris is currently a member of the Investment Committee at SUSI Partners, a Zurich based clean energy transition infrastructure fund, and a member of the Board of NextWind, a newly established green IPP focused on mid to end-of-life assets.
