PA Consulting (PA), the global innovation and transformation consultancy, will work alongside strategic partner and project lead Jacobs (NYSE: J) to deliver innovation and design capabilities to the Department for Energy Security & Net Zero’s (DESNZ) Carbon Capture, Usage and Storage (CCUS) programme, an essential element of the UK’s commitment to deliver a net-zero economy by 2050.
CCUS will help decarbonise industry and enable the generation of low carbon energy and low carbon hydrogen production at scale. The CCUS programme will facilitate the low carbon transformation of the UK’s industrial base by the creation of “clusters” of industrial, power, and hydrogen projects around transport and storage infrastructure.
PA will draw on its technology, design, and analytics expertise to ensure the UK approach to carbon capture is innovative and impactful. While Jacobs will deliver technical project management, strategic and change management advisory, data solutions, and risk and quality management.
PA’s innovation and design capabilities employ cutting edge science and technology to help create a climate-smart economy. PA works on scaling up promising solutions like next generation recycling, agri-tech, and green hydrogen as well as on integrating mature technologies such as digital optimisation and additive manufacturing into global ecosystems. For example, PA has recently worked with CRDC Global Limited to regenerate plastic waste into a carbon capture aggregate for the global construction sector.
Jacobs’ global experience from the emerging CCUS market includes work on deep geological exploration, environmental consenting, design and major programme management of complex, multi-stakeholder infrastructure projects.
The contract with DESNZ is for an initial term of two years with an option to extend by up to two additional one-year periods.
