John Knight joins PA Consulting (PA), the consultancy bringing ingenuity to life, as a Partner in Energy and Utilities, and will be part of the Climate Response unit.
At PA, John will help clients navigate the challenges associated with energy transition, as part of the wider climate response, in particular around utilising technologies such as carbon capture, usage and storage (CCUS) as well as sustainability transformation, investing and financing. John will work closely with engineers and scientists at PA’s Global Innovation and Technology Centre to help energy and utilities companies scale-up the emerging technology to help achieve a 1.5c pathway.
John joins from McKinsey where he worked in the energy and sustainability practice, and prior to that he worked as an engineering manager and process engineer at KBR, working on offshore oil and gas projects.
Aris Karcanias, Global Head of Energy and Utilities at PA Consulting, says: “John is an exciting addition to our market-leading Energy and Utilities team, and is making an immediate impact with clients on their energy transition journey. John’s in-depth understanding of CCUS will help clients as they look to capitalise on opportunities in that emerging market, in addition to supporting their sustainability goals by establishing net-zero strategies and decarbonisation pathways. John’s arrival follows on from a number of recent senior hires from across the industry, which is testament to PA’s growth in this area.
John adds: “Joining PA means having the opportunity to work alongside people who share the same drive to make a real difference to the world and to climate change. I’m impressed by PA’s global innovation and technology centres, and the way these can accelerate currently under-developed technology to market to enable a rapid energy transition. I look forward to working in an environment of shared purpose with the ability to make real lasting positive change to the global climate crisis.”
PA’s energy and utilities experts work with businesses to anticipate the future, champion innovation and lead transformative solutions to unlock potential across energy and utilities markets. From leading the transformation to green energy with Ørsted, Denmark’s largest energy producer, to boosting California's use of renewable energy by developing the world's biggest battery with US power company Vistra Energy, PA’s experts provide critical support and advice amid global uncertainty and change and seek to preserve valuable resources and enhance environmental outcomes for societies around the world.
Over the last six months, PA Energy and Utilities has grown significantly bringing in a number of senior hires to support clients in the UK including smart energy and retail expert, Amy Marshall, nuclear experts, Andrea Sinnott and Matt Leedham and clean energy and technology expert, David Sanders.
